NRGMagnet was founded in 1993 by founder and president Lisa Surprenant to serve international energy programs around the world.

Since then, she has created key energy conservation and efficiency initiatives in dozens of countries, assisting governments and non-governmental organizations to establish viable metrics-driven programs. As an architect specialized in energy efficient buildings, she also consults on demonstration projects for "green" or energy efficient buildings worldwide.

Her team at NRGmagnet leverages their decades of international experience for a range of projects. NRGmagnet's clients include: United Nations, United Nations Development Program, the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, US Agency for International Development, European Commission, Swedish Agency for International Development, US Environmental Protection Agency, US Department of Energy, DANIDA (Denmark), DANCED (Denmark), JICA (Japan), and many others.
